Set in 1944\, it follows a Latina journalist\, a Jewish nurse\, and a Black riveter all working at the Chicago shipyard and facing danger and prejudice of all kinds. \nPamela Reitman is the author of Charlotte Salomon Paints Her Life\, a fictional retelling of the real life artist whose monumental work\, “Life? Or Theater?” survived the Holocaust. Charlotte did not. \nI will be introducing Rose Mayer\, a twice-widowed New York Jewish woman and star of my award-winning novel\, Into the Wilderness set in 1964 Vermont.
