“I hope you may remember that 27 years ago you taught me “Introduction to Freshman Composition” at Columbia . . . My success as a scientist has been due as much to my writing ability, whether in grant proposals or in manuscripts, as to any scientific achievements. . . . I want to thank you for the path you started me on.” ~Professor Danny Chamovitz, author of What a Plant Knows
I offer developmental editing services for writers who seek guidance shaping or revising a rough draft into a polished document, from blogs to books, including memoir, novels, and non-fiction.
We’ll work together, but I won’t fix your project; I’ll show you how to say what it is you mean in a way that will capture your audience and convey your message in your voice.
I offer a manuscript assessment for a flat fee or an hourly rate for editorial services.
The Manuscript Assessment includes a thorough reading of your typescript and a meeting or written assessment outlining the project’s strengths as well as indicating the places where I have questions about your intent, logic, or narrative structure. This service includes suggestions about possible next steps; it does not include line editing or proofreading.
The Hourly Fee Option drills down into matters of grammar and style in addition to the services included in the Manuscript Assessment as described above.
To find out if we can work together, please email me a description of your project and a writing sample of no more than ten pages. Together, we’ll define the scope of work, set our goals, and create a contract to our mutual satisfaction.
